The Role of a Wali in Nikah Introductions

A wali is a sister's guardian (father, brother, or other mahram) who accompanies the process of getting introduced for marriage. This practice helps keep communication respectful and protects the sister's interests.

How it works on the platform

When registering, a sister can add her wali's contact. Once a chat opens with a potential spouse, the wali can join the conversation as a witness — reading messages and writing if needed.

The app also has a separate “witness” role — a trusted person other than the wali can be invited to observe the chat too.

Why it matters

Having a wali present reduces misunderstandings, protects against bad-faith contacts, and keeps the introduction within boundaries the family approves of.
